Project Description

The Netherlands Open Air Museum (Child Labour in present times)

The Netherlands Open Air Museum has the intention to show visitors on the issue of ‘opposition against child labour’ in an inviting and challenging manner to contemplate the cause and effect of child labour. And to inform the visitors about possible solutions. Kinkorn has made the design this was further developed and produced in cooperation with Heijmerink Wagemakers.

The exhibition, located in the Freia dairy factory, consists among other of three ‘cylinders’ designed after old industrial tanks. Children play a game in these cylinders with adults standing outside. Participants experience how children were engaged in the labour process and how nowadays children are still involved in this labour process worldwide. An interaction between past times and today.
