Cultuurpark Castellum

In the summer of 2015 we delivered the first phase of Cultuurpark Castellum: the new cultural hotspot in Utrecht-Leidsche Rijn. This year (2016) we took care of phase two; a rich series of special exhibits. Again a beautiful design by Pronk and Podium!

In this second phase of the project, the changing landscape is the main subject, seen from different perspectives. Through an archeology unit that visualises layers of earth and through a 15-meter long timeline in a wall unit (consisting of 141 variegated trays) 3000 years of Leidsche Rijn is revealed. There is also an archipelago of seven islands.

Each island shows a period and contains eye-catchers that are part of that period, which are brought across the stage via all possible (multimedia) forms. In a life-sized pepper’s ghost projection, you will experience the adventures of a farmer’s son who transforms into a world citizen. Eye catcher within this series of exhibits is a meter-high ‘fish trap’ in which you can see the changing landscape through surround projection: from prehistoric farm to vinex district.
