Project Description

Museon (Survival in ice and melt water)

The Pole room depicts nature and culture in the polar area. Both the animals on the Northpole as well as the Inuit of East Greenland have learned to survive the adverse conditions of the Arctic. Today they’re being confronted with the problems related to the climate change.

The exhibition shows the magnificent beauty of the polar area but also the harsh living conditions, the disappearing ice pack, the struggle for survival of the ice bears and the seals, the building of an igloo and kajaks as well as shamanism and the modern life of the Inuit.
